DMDM Hydantoin
What is DMDM Hydantoin?
DMDM Hydantoin is a formaldehyde-releasing preservative used in skincare and cosmetic products to prevent microbial growth. It slowly releases small amounts of formaldehyde, providing broad-spectrum antimicrobial protection in water-based formulations. Commonly found in shampoos, conditioners, lotions, and nail polishes at concentrations up to 0.6%.
